Public Interest Design

Our society is confronted with large challenges on the level of sustainability, partly because people are focused on their private comfort and interests. Can design be used to reveal, challenge and give form to ways of sharing space, goods, values and practices and thus contribute to the urgent sustainability challenges? Liesbeth Huybrechts will zoom into a project in Belgium that investigated how inhabitants, businesses and public organizations share space in the city and how this sharing could be further encouraged through design.
